Joanna Hardin recently completed her 10th season as the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers after taking over the program prior to the 2017 season and has charted a new course for Virginia softball in her tenure.
This past season, Hardin continued the upward surge for the Cavaliers, raising the bar yet again for Virginia softball. The program hit the 40-win mark on the way to a third-straight NCAA Regional and a second NCAA Regional final in three seasons. Macee Eaton earned All-America honors to give UVA back-to-back All-America honorees. Eaton was one of five players to also earn NFCA All-Region honors along with Eden Bigham, Bella Cabral, Jade Hylton and Courtney Layne.
The 2026 Hoos also continued to hit new marks offensively, setting the program record for home runs in a season (71) and finishing second in a season for RBI (299) and third in runs scored (324). Three Cavaliers earned All-ACC honors with Eaton, Cabral and Julia Cuozzo recognized by the league.
In the 2025 season, Hardin coached the Hoos to the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive season and third time ever as Virginia appeared at the NCAA Columbia Regional. She coached Jade Hylton to All-America honors and Hylton lead a group of four players to garner NFCA All-Region honors as she was joined in the recognition by Bigham, Cabral and Macee Eaton.
