Aaron Roussell was named the University of Virginia’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach on April 7, 2026. Roussell, who became the seventh head coach in the program’s history, spent the last seven seasons at the University of Richmond, leading the Spiders to a 148-72 record and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Richmond won the 2024 Atlantic-10 Tournament and captured back-to-back outright regular-season A10 championships in 2024 and 2025.
Virginia is Roussell’s (roo-SELL) fourth stint as a collegiate head coach. Over the past 22 seasons, he has compiled a career record of 460-194 spanning stops at Division III Chicago (2004-2012), Bucknell (2012-2019) and Richmond (2019-2026). As he did at Richmond, Roussell guided Chicago to four of its appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament as well as Bucknell to two of its four appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
